Salon has a great article reviewing the preview (???) for the “V” remake, including a clip from the show, which will feature Elizabeth Mitchell (“Lost”) and Joss Whedon players Morena Baccarin (“Firefly”) and Alan Tudyk (“Firefly”/”Dollhouse.”)

So excited about the return of the alien lizard folk. I have both mini-series and the full-of-potential-but-oh-so-disappointing TV series.

Colbert Hates Yoo; Takes on Phila. Inquirer I almost hesitated to add this because my husband and (and currently, our sole source of income) works for the Inquirer. But this is very funny. You have to scroll down to the clip. And Brian Tierney, you are an intelligent, well-spoken, business savvy tycoon and — dare I say it — also a very handsome fellow.

Obama v. Cheney: If, like me, you missed the dueling speeches, here’s a good summary.

Nerve.com: I’m a big fan of this site — I read it for the essays, honest! This new posting today was rather moving and brutally honest. And the site is resurrecting its I Did It For Science feature, which was always entertaining.

Welcome to The Motherlode

So this is my first posting for The Motherlode. My name is Julie B, your friendly neighborhood guide to – as the tag line above indicates – News Pop Culture, Opinion, Humor, Relationships & Raising Kids.

There’s a much longer story as to why I decided to start this blog (thanks to Cindy for putting the bug in my head – I’ll have my husband call you when he starts complaining) but the bottom line is that I have many two-bit, half-baked opinions that I I have an overwhelming need to share with the world. I often write in my pajamas. I spend an unhealthy amount of time on Facebook. I am a news junkie. I neglect my three kids (and the one on the way) so I can surf websites. In short, I was born to blog.

So if you should choose to do me the honor of reading my posts from time to time, here’s some idea of what you’ll probably find:

Raising Kids: I am a trapped- stay-at-home mom, so there will be more than a few entries about my rotten, unruly kids (whom I adore.). My daughter turns 10 in a couple weeks and is transitioning from Hannah Montana to Green Day, so I did something right there. My 7 year-old son is on the autism spectrum, so there’s plenty of material (Jenny McCarthy, sweetie, you and I need to have a chat.) My 3 year old son in the cute suit has an unparalleled talent for tantrum-throwing and prevents me from accomplishing, well, anything. And I’m pregnant for the 4th – and last! – time, with the baby expected in August. So between the wacky childbirth stories and postpartum depression that will inevitably follow, there’s plenty to talk about.

Daily Round-Up: Before the kids, I was a writer and editor in the print news and magazine biz. Now, I usually visit a least 10-15 news, opinion and entertainment websites a day, so hopefully my mainlining blogs can be put to more constructive use here. If I see something interesting, funny or unique I’ll share it here.
